Flanders’ largest flood plain, the Polders of Kruibeke, is located in Waasland within the borders of Kruibeke, Bazel and Rupelmonde. This flood control area makes Flanders five times safer. Six hundred hectares of these polders have been transformed into a unique nature area—a Valhalla for hikers and cyclists and a boost for the local hospitality industry and other businesses.
